Jilâ – “Az Yâd Namira”
This 45 rpm issued in Iran on Mercuri Label is unfortunately a mispressed one, at least the copy I own. Five artists are indicated on the vinyl’s label: on one side Zaran and Rofsharah (yes, the mispressed also include mispelling because these are actually Sara and Jalil Zoland for a duo and Rokhshanah for a song) and on the other side Jila and Ustad Homahang. When listening to the ep, Homahang finally doesn’t appear on it and we have only a beautiful Jila song that you can listen here above.
The biggest problem is on the side with Rokhshanah and Mr and Mrs Zoland: the two songs were engraved simultaneously and sometimes, the furrows intersect on the disc and so, we can not have access to complete tracks. Concerning the duet between Ustad Jalil and his wife Sara, it was already available on line here. Rokhshanah’s one was for me a novel and I could finally save a little bit more than one minute of this really beautiful track called “Tabassom” (“smile”). You can listen to it just below:
Rokhshanah – “Tabassom”
I hope you will enjoy these ancient afghan tracks, released probably during the first part of the 60’s.
